About PAC! - A Short Yet Impactful Animation

Błaszczyńska’s short film PAC! is a witty and darkly humorous animation about an ordinary woman who just wants to enjoy a peaceful bath. Unfortunately, things take an unexpected and rather tragic turn in this seemingly simple scenario. The film, rendered in black and white using hand-drawn animation, is a playful exploration of arachnophobia that leaves a lasting impact on its viewers.

Since its release in 2012, PAC! has been celebrated for its creativity and humor, notably winning the Golden Satchel of Koziołek Matołek in the category of "Animated Epigrams" at the Polish National Animation Festival O!PLA. In February 2015, the film was screened in cinemas alongside Benedikt Erlingsson’s Of Horses and Men, bringing Polish animated storytelling to wider audiences.

Who is Alicja Błaszczyńska?

Alicja Błaszczyńska was born on July 23, 1991, in Łódź, Poland. After completing high school, she pursued Film Studies at Łódź University and later honed her skills in Animation Directing and Special Effects at the Polish National Film School in Łódź. Currently, in her fourth year at the film school, Błaszczyńska has developed a distinctive style that combines humor with an edgy and sometimes unsettling storytelling approach.

With PAC! as her directorial debut, Błaszczyńska showcased her skills in directing, scriptwriting, cinematography, editing, and animation. The film’s minimalist style and impactful storytelling have made her one of Poland’s promising talents in animation.
