Frett - Dreams (Kings in White Remix): A Fresh Take on Sonic Illusion
Frett - Dreams (Kings in White Remix): A New Dimension of Sonic Illusion
When art meets technology, and sounds weave stories of loneliness and hope, truly exceptional creations emerge. One such creation is Frett - Dreams (Kings in White Remix), a collaboration that I had the pleasure of working on with Tomek Grochola, known from the band Agressiva 69, under our duo Kings in White.
The Original: A Raw Vision in a World of Holograms
The track Dreams is part of the album The World as a Hologram, released by Frett in 2020 via Ant-Zen and Gusstaff Records. In its original form, the composition captivates with raw, synthetic sounds that create a cold, almost futuristic atmosphere.
The accompanying music video, created by Arek Bagiński and Rafał Zaremba, is a true work of art. Featuring Maciek Frett, founder of the Wrocław Industrial Festival, the video guides us through his dreams and visions while wearing virtual reality glasses. These images are filled with loneliness, confinement within technology, and subtle reflections on humanity in the digital world. The video tells a fascinating story about the condition of modern man, trapped in the illusion of his own dreams.
The Remix: Warmth and Hope in an Electronic Rock Sound
For our remix, we decided to approach the track from a new perspective. Frett - Dreams (Kings in White Remix) is an interpretation that gives the composition a more rock-infused character, introducing warmth and emotional depth.
The rawness of the original gives way to dynamic, lively energy, while the track takes on a more organic sound that emphasizes the contrast between technology and humanity. Our vision brings a touch of hope – suggesting the possibility of breaking free from illusion and finding light.
Released on the Music from Poland Compilation
The remix was released on October 31, 2024, as part of the digital compilation Music from Poland, released by Go! Boys Records. This compilation promotes Polish artists, showcasing their diverse approaches to electronic, industrial, and experimental music. It’s a unique opportunity to explore the rich sounds of the Polish music scene and witness how different artistic visions can complement each other.
Behind the Collaboration and Reflections
Working on this remix was an incredibly inspiring experience for both me and Tomek Grochola. While we’ve both been involved in the intersection of various musical genres for years, this project allowed us to dig deeper and create something that blends elements of industrial, rock, and synth-wave.
Maciek Frett’s work is a source of incredible emotion and reflection, and having the opportunity to reinterpret his piece was both a challenge and a great honor.
Listen and Discover
If you haven’t had the chance yet, I encourage you to watch the original Dreams music video and listen to our remix. I hope this sonic journey, where loneliness, technology, and hope meet, will move you just as much as it moved us during its creation.
We highly recommend checking out Music from Poland—it’s a must-listen for those who appreciate innovative and diverse sounds from Poland’s electronic and experimental music scene.
Looking forward to your thoughts and impressions! 🎵
